MTV

For MTV's 40th anniversary, they wanted to do a rebrand that admired the spirit of their original logo. They wanted to bring back the fun and quirk while maintaining a clean crisp brand. This project looked at all aspects of a brand, from remaking their iconic logo to creating a unique typeface that encompassed the voice of MTV.

Along with a typeface and new logo, we created a lively motion language that could be used across all platforms. Bringing to life MTV's unique voice.

MTV is an ever evolving brand. The elements we created are meant to be functional allowing them to be built upon. Pushing the elements to new places much like the spirit of MTV over the last 40 years.

The Logo

For the rebrand MTV wanted to bring back the essence of the original logo. The tri-color logo is used as a digital entry point for the brand. A way to speak holistically about MTV.

The flat logo is used more often in the day to day assets created for MTV. This mark is used with show titles, subbrands and bugs.

The flat logo is used in many assets, mostly when discussing one specific property of MTV such as a subbrand or when locked up with linear and digital show titles.

Gravity Grotesk

The first and only typeface designed, produced and engineered for MTV. The Gravity Grotesk family consists of three sets; standard, extended and condensed, each containing 6 weights and italics for the standard family, totaling at 24 unique typesets.
